Life Design Coaching

My clients come to me at challenging or pivotal moments in their life. Maybe you feel like you live in the margins. Maybe you feel stuck or not where you want to be in life. Maybe you feel an uncomfortable emotion you want to get a better handle on (anxiety and anger are common offenders!) Maybe you have a goal they want to achieve but aren’t 100% sure how to get there.

Maybe you feel disconnected from yourself, like life is passing you by, and sometimes it’s debilitating.

A lot of my clients have read the self-help books, followed the *big name* social media influencers, done a lot of work, but are still just missing…something.

You want more. I've got you.

I offer skill and goal oriented coaching through my Life Design Program, utilizing my background in mental health, human services, and education.

In other words, I’m the person you work with when you want to work through getting some answers, but don’t feel like you *quite* need a therapist or you want to work on skills outside of your clinician's scope.

We work together with your experience in yourself, and my experience in mental health and mentoring, to craft a unique path forward for you.  I don't sell courses; each plan and coaching session is tailored to your goals, unique strengths, and interests.

my approach and values

The Life Design Program is a 360 view of you, your values, strengths, skills, and goals. We assess together what in your life can come into alignment to better achieve your goals, whether your goals are related to work, personal, relationships, etc.

One aspect that sets me apart as a coach is I will do the work with you. You don't have to sit in a comfy chair and tell me your problems. We can meet privately, or we can try things out in the real world.

Coaches work in the here and now - we only talk about the past to understand your present.

I work with partners to help you get the resources you need.

I don't work with any one aspect of your life (school, family, work). We work with all of it, piecing the puzzle together.

Unlike many life coaches, I have education and professional experience to back up my work with you.

I believe in transparency and collaboration, and ethical coaching.

I am action-oriented, direct, and believe in empowerment, strengths-based work. Healing happens in community.

I believe and utilize evidence-based treatment and understand its limitations.

I am a non-judgmental, identity affirming, sex-positive, CNM friendly professional.

I'm not trying to make you *better* (there is nothing wrong with you), I am trying to help you be more *you.*

I actively continue to identify and address my areas of privilege and ways that mental health professionals

Your values don't have to be my values.

Coaching relationships don't have to last a long time to be really effective.

Your health and wellness, and working with me is an investment in yourself, your family, and your community.

Coaching Specialities

If you don't see yourself exactly in my specialty areas, don't worry. Let's talk.

If I can't personally help you, I can help you identify who or what can.

Life Design

I specialize in working individuals who don't want to follow a prescribed path or want to follow their dreams, but aren't sure how to get there. I work with young adults and adults looking to align their lives and work with values that are important to them - helping find purpose, meaning, and balance in their lives. This. may be someone in a transition phase (like leaving college, divorce, parenting, finding a new job, etc).

Life Design for Men's Health

Working with a woman might feel like a bold choice if you're looking for men's mental health support, I know. I've predominately worked with men most of my career, both as a mental health practitioner in corrections and psychiatry, and as a professor in a police academy. Many healing spaces are aimed at women, and many practitioners are not prepared to work with men. I work in consultation with male coaches and consultants, but I firmly believe that if we want a healthier, happier society, men need mental health support too. I'm not a fan of "just talking out problems" and am solution oriented, so if that resonates with you, I might be the right coach for you.

Life Design - ADHD Support

If you're someone at some point has been diagnosed with, or suspect, ADHD, AND you feel like you weren’t like “other” people, AND the life design box fits you - we can work on utilizing your ADHD skills and struggles to work for you and less against you. This can look like executive functioning (like organization or time management) skills, habit assessment, strength identification, mindset work, etc.

Relational Skills Development

I work with individuals to improve listening, communication, conflict, and other verbal and nonverbal skills to enhance their lives and ability to connect to people around them. This might look like learning active listening, reducing defensive responses, having difficult conversations, "scripting", boundary work, etc.
